I love living in the Treasure Valley. I thought having Valley in my name would reflect that.
I quit my corporate job back in 2005 to raise my 4 kids. In 2020, as a woman of faith in Jesus, I prayed for the next season of life for my husband and I. I didn't want to go back to corporate life and we had discussed owning a business. That November, my daughter pulled out my craft bin and I made 9 gnomes from upcycled sweaters just to have as decorations for the holidays. I posted them on social media for my friends and family and the response was overwhelming. I sold 200 gnomes my first month. We decided that this is what God has for us and that we'd try making it work as a business. I sold 200 more the following month and that's when we started getting themed requests. We thought it may be just a seasonal thing, however, it has grown into a year round business, with unlimited themes. Such a gift!
My shop originated in 2020 when my family lived in Snoqualmie, WA.
That is a tough one...I have so many fun gnomes. I have to say my Treebeard gnomes are very popular along with my Sports Teams and Career/Hobby Gnomes
Using my own designs and patterns, I handcraft quality gnomes for indoor decor for all seasons and themes, made from new and upcycled materials and textiles.
I love giving people a reason to smile through my creativity. I put a lot of love and care into my quality craftsmanship. This shows in the response I get from people who stop into my booth at craft shows and farmers markets. I get the sense that my gnomes come to life a bit for them - we often hear people say they remind them of their "pop pop", a loved one or a friend. That makes my heart happy.
It is a blast going from event to event, engaging and talking with people from all over. The Treasure Valley is a pretty special place to live and the people here are who make it that way. I'm grateful to live in a place where people work hard, have good values, are friendly, kind and helpful. I am proud to live here.
Next step in growth for Valley Gnomes & Gifts is online sales. We're hoping to have a website up and running within this next year.
