The name Meander Moose has a special story behind it. The first book I wrote was A Guide to Creating Your Own Bucket List, and one of the items on my own bucket list was to see a moose in its natural habitat. On June 28, 2025, my husband and I finally checked that item off at Meanders, just north of McCall, Idaho, where we saw our very first moose—a mama and her baby. That experience stayed with me and eventually became the inspiration for Meander Moose. The name “Meander” came from the place where that bucket-list moment happened, and “Moose” came from the unforgettable animals we saw that day.
After writing my first book, A Guide to Creating Your Own Bucket List, I decided to try something completely different and write a children’s book. What started as one story about a little moose grew into something much bigger than I expected. I fell in love with Meander Moose and the messages I could share through her stories—kindness, friendship, courage, confidence, and embracing what makes us different. One book led to another, and eventually Meander Moose Adventures became a real business.

The Adventures of Meander Moose is probably the book people connect with first because it introduces Meander and the heart behind the series. It’s where her story begins, so it’s often the natural starting point for families discovering Meander Moose Adventures.
Honestly, I love them all. Each Meander Moose book has a special place for me because every one started with a different idea, message, or feeling I wanted to share with children. Some focus on friendship, some on big emotions, some on courage or forgiveness, but they all feel like part of Meander’s bigger adventure. I don’t think I could choose just one favorite.
What makes Meander Moose meaningful to me is that the stories are more than just cute adventures. Each book is built around something children can relate to, like friendship, kindness, courage, confidence, big feelings, forgiveness, and hope. I want kids to enjoy the story first, but also come away with something positive that stays with them. For parents, grandparents, and teachers, I hope the books create opportunities for conversations that matter while still being fun, colorful, and engaging for young readers.
I love that Idaho still has such a strong sense of community and support for local businesses. There are so many farmers markets, local events, schools, libraries, gift shops, and family-focused places where I can actually meet people and introduce them to Meander Moose in person. I also love that so much of the inspiration behind Meander Moose comes from Idaho itself, especially the outdoors and the real-life moose encounter near McCall that started it all.
I’m excited to keep growing Meander Moose Adventures one step at a time. I just created the sixth book in the series, Meander Moose’s Little Adventures Activity Book, for ages 3–5, and I’m currently working on the next activity book for ages 5–8. I’d also love to continue getting the books into more local shops, schools, libraries, and community events while finding new ways for children to connect with Meander Moose.
Meander Moose Adventures books are currently available at five retail locations, as well as online through Barnes & Noble and Walmart. I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start. Sometimes you just have to take the first step and be willing to learn as you go. Meander Moose has grown one little idea at a time, and I’ve learned to celebrate the small wins along the way.
